It is spring once again. All around us I see nature waking up and coming alive. My wife and I have been working to clean up our yard and prepare our garden areas for planting. It is fun to see our trees starting to blossom and perennial flowers coming out.

With spring time comes April General Conference. We already know it is going to be a unique one this year. No one will be in the Conference Center, the music is pre-recorded, and the speakers will be broadcasting from another location.

My wife shared a message with me that she saw on social media and I would like to share parts of it here.

“In the next six months, I hope that every member and every family will prepare for a unique conference that will commemorate the very foundations of the restored gospel.”  – President Nelson

Where did “the very foundations of the restored gospel” begin?

Not in a church. Not in a conference center.

In a home.

What began in a home (and nearby grove) 200 years ago will be commemorated in a home once again.

Even thousands of missionaries serving around the world are returning at lightning speed...to their own homes.

I thought this was a fascinating idea. With the situation what it is, we will all be home with our families to watch conference. Joseph Smith was surrounded by his family when he started his search for truth. He returned home to share the experience with his family.

What you get out of General Conference is surely be related to how you prepare and how you engage your mind and heart. Prepare for it by praying, thinking about questions you have, watching talks from previous conferences, and planning to watch.

You can watch General Conference live online, listen to it on the radio, stream it on TV, listen on phones and smart home devices, etc. See the many ways here.

Keep a notepad and pencil handy. Take note of the impressions that come to your mind. You never know what revelation may come as you listen to the speakers.

I encourage all of you to join me in participating in this upcoming General Conference.
